To read another website, MiniFiles' server fetches the public page and its images for you; the images are then compressed in your browser. Nothing is stored.
How the analyzer works
- Our server fetches the public page and lists the JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF images in its HTML (up to 40).
- Each image is passed to your browser and compressed at 80% quality with the same engines as Compress Image, and also tried as WebP.
- You see the original and the smallest result side by side, the bytes saved and whether the image is far larger than it is displayed.
- The score summarises how many image bytes the page could save. Download the optimised files (free account: up to 5 per analysis; Pro: all, or a ZIP) and replace the originals.
Reading the results
- Score and grade. 100 means nothing to gain. Every percent of image bytes that could be saved lowers the score by one point; oversized images cost two more. A is 90+, B 75+, C 60+, D 40+.
- Oversized. The image is more than twice as wide as the width set in the page's HTML — resizing it will save far more than compression alone.
- Try WebP. The WebP version was the smallest. Every current browser supports WebP.
- Time saved is a rough download estimate on a slow 4G connection (1.6 Mbps), the network Lighthouse uses for mobile tests.

Frequently asked questions
How does the website image analyzer work?
You enter a page URL. MiniFiles' server downloads the public page, lists the images in its HTML and passes each image to your browser, which compresses it with the same engines MiniFiles uses for its image tools. The savings shown are measured on real files, not estimated.
What does the image score mean?
The score starts at 100 and drops by the percentage of image bytes that could be saved, with a small extra penalty for each image that is more than twice as wide as it is displayed. 90 or above (grade A) means the page's images are already well optimised.
Does it check every image on the page?
It checks up to 40 JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF images referenced in the page's HTML, including common lazy-loading attributes. Images added later by JavaScript, CSS background images and SVGs aren't included, and images larger than 4 MB are skipped.
Is my website data stored?
No. The page and images are fetched only to run the analysis and are not stored. As with any web request, the URL may appear in our hosting provider's logs.
Can I download the optimised images?
The analysis is free for everyone. With a free account you can download up to 5 optimised images per analysis; Pro downloads every image, individually or as one ZIP.
Is it free?
Yes. Each analysis counts as one use: without an account you get 10 uses a day across all MiniFiles tools, and a free account removes the daily limit.
