Compress video for email under 25 MB

Most email services cap attachments at 20–25 MB. Drop a video and MiniFiles fits it under the limit — in your browser, without uploading it anywhere.

This browser can't compress video. Use a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a computer — the video is still processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to compress a video to send by email

  1. Drop your video into the box above — Under 25 MB · Email is already selected.
  2. Keep 720p, or choose 480p for long videos.
  3. Trim it to the part that matters, or remove the audio, if it's too long to fit.
  4. Click Compress video, download the MP4 and attach it to your email.

How video compression works in MiniFiles

  • Processed on your device. The video is decoded and re-encoded by your browser's own video encoder (WebCodecs, usually hardware-accelerated) with the Mediabunny library. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Size or quality. Pick High, Balanced or Small quality, or a size target such as under 10 MB for Discord or 25 MB for email; the bitrate is worked out from the video's length.
  • Smaller frame, smaller file. Scaling a 4K or 1080p phone video down to 720p is usually the biggest saving. Videos are never upscaled, and vertical videos stay vertical.
  • Trim and mute. Keep only part of the video, or remove the audio track, before compressing — both make the file smaller still.
  • Plans. Free: MP4 output at 720p or 480p for videos up to 200 MB, compressed to any size you choose. Pro adds the original resolution and 1080p, no file size limit and WebM. Without an account you get 10 uses a day across all tools.

Frequently asked questions

What's the email attachment size limit?

Gmail and Yahoo Mail allow 25 MB per email and Outlook.com 20 MB; many work servers allow 10–25 MB. Choose Custom size for a lower limit.

My video is too long to fit in 25 MB. What can I do?

Trim it, remove the audio or choose 480p. As a rough guide, about two to three minutes of 720p video fits in 25 MB. For longer videos, share a cloud link instead (Gmail does this automatically through Google Drive).

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. MiniFiles compresses videos in your browser with the browser's own video encoder, so the file never leaves your device.

Which browsers work?

Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on a computer. Phones work for short videos, but long videos can run out of memory.

Why won't my iPhone video open on Windows?

iPhones record in HEVC (H.265), which Chrome on Windows can only decode with Microsoft's HEVC extension installed. Use Safari or Edge, or install the extension.

Is it free?

Free: MP4 output at 720p or 480p for videos up to 200 MB, compressed to any size you choose. Pro adds the original resolution and 1080p, no file size limit and WebM. Without an account you get 10 uses a day across all tools.
